Wake Up LA: Eat Well

Eat Well in West Hollywood

For those of you who find Urth Caffe on Melrose way too much of a scene, might I suggest a quick, delicious, nearby alternative? Eat Well on Santa Monica at Harper (in West Hollywood in between Crescent Heights and La Cienega) is a simple neighborhood joint that serves a mean breakfast, not to mention lunch, dinner, and cocktails. With a menu that gives Jerry's a run for its money, Eat Well is the perfect place to grab a quick bite.

With a staff and interior indicative of its neighborhood (read: rainbow flags and calendars entitled "Straight Boys" and "Sugar Spit", Eat Well is just a nice, easy place to eat. While it was clearly evident that I was the only girl in the place, the staff was friendly and attentive.

Inside Eat Well in West HollywoodThe great thing about Eat Well is its variety. Want to completely heffer out and order a triple meat omelet? Go for it. Want to be super healthy and order a veggie platter with egg whites? Good for you. Eat Well doesn't discriminate.

Since Eat Well is walking distance from several residential communities, the place tends to get crowded on the weekends. Eating outside when the weather is nice will most likely heed a longer wait, but the expeditious yet uncompromised service is sure to please. Upon asking when the busiest business hours are, a resounding "Sunday morning" was sighed by both waiters. The place is open until 10, however, and lunch and dinner are no cake walks either. For a place that holds 60 people, its surprising that there isn't more of a line during peak hours.

So if you want a great breakfast and don't want to wait in line at Joan's on Third or Toast, go to Eat Well. There's not much more to say than the food is tasty and fresh and the service is speedy and pleasant. And hey, there's several on the west side and even one in Glendale, so all you valley peeps won't feel left out.
