too bad this doesn't apply to humans too. Oh well.

I think purebreds should go under the knife as well.

You should probably mention that this only applies to the city of Los Angeles... and not to Los Angeles County... at least I think so.

Either way, unless Bob Barker comes to my house and snips them off himself, my dog is keeping his balls.

Donna -- Doesn't "that guy" (and why is it nearly always a guy?) live in everyone's building? :-)

I like the 1-800 # to report ball infractions. That's a great idea.

This law is a win in many ways - that big jerk with his big husky that has the big balls and bosses everyone around will finally be snipped.
Do you live in my building?

As a rescued pit owner, I couldn't take him home from the shelter (in Boston) until he was snipped. So how does Mr. Macho's dog get served? Is there a 1-800-NEUTER line? Naturally his dog is large, unsnipped, and male. A joy!

Interesting about the going underground part. Like many municipal laws, the staffing to enforce it is too lean, but for now, when someone gets caught, they have something with more teeth to bust them on. Just don't like the more "inhumane" ways animals could be treated.

Growing up in the north eastern part of the US we had several pets which we adopted from the local animal shelter. Out of two dogs and three cats over the years we noticed that none of them ever came into heat. So I assume spaying and neutering was SOP for ASPCA shelters in that state. I also noticed there were very few strays and abandoned animals. This is good, and humane legislation. I also think there should be provisions to hold licensed breeders to certain standards and frequent inspections.
