I am so scaaared. Writer/director Eli Roth (Hostel) continues his reign at the New Beverly in “The Greats of Roth” series. Tonight, he’s screening the double-feature of The Blair Witch Project (1999) and Cannibal Holocaust (1980), an earlier film that deals with a missing documentary film crew. But it has the best tagline. Ever. "Ripout! Barbeque! Devour! How long can you take it?"

WORDS
Professor Giovanni La Varra, a member of URB&COM, a laboratory of the Department of Architecture and Planning of the Polytechnic of Milan, visits SCI-Arc tonight with "Milanese Chronicles" as part of the school’s spring lecture series. His interest focuses on political relations between urban planning and commerce and how the Nomadic ways of some European populations is transforming Milan.

THEATRE
Theatre of NOTE presents poet Ron Allen’s Eye Mouth Graffiti Bodyshop to kickstart its "Off-night Series." (Works that run on Wednesdays and Thursdays.) Allen’s work is described as a “theatrical journey of language” that “utilizes the tastes, sights and sounds of the city as a text for the absurdity and surreality spectacle of urban culture.”

UCLA Film and Television Archive’s occasional series The Movie That Inspired Me continues tonight with award-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins (No Country for Old Men, Jarhead). Deakins, who will be in attendance, has selected Jean-Pierre Melville’s Army of Shadows (1969) as one of the films that influenced his work. The film is examines the French Resistance during WWII against the Nazi occupation. The Archive’s Honorary Chairman and series curator Curtis Hanson hosts.
