First off, I hate Kimora Lee Simmons. Hate how she kept Russel's last name. Hate how she married him for the cash. Hate her plastic face and really poor fashion taste.
But I do enjoy Seacrest. He is the next best thing to an ailing Dick Clark. And thats the truth. I enjoy him because he is painfully self aware. He knows people dont get him but understands that the majority of Americans do and thats why he works so much. He makes quips all hte time about himself. Its great. Hearing someone else make a joke about him just falls flat to me.

I enjoed this years show a lot actually. I thought Jon Stewart was funny and I HATE is humour and college brand of news jokey-ness. But I applaud him for speaking directly to a home audience last ngiht with his material. He made me laugh a lot. The show didnt feel like it was 3 and a 1/2 hours.

Finally, yes, my porn name is the shit. It's Curly Bronson.

caliking01--
Why am I so bitter? That's an interesting question. I never considered myself to be bitter about the Oscars, nor did I think I was coming off as bitter in this post. I think the "talent" of people like Ryan Seacrest is curious, as is the cultural validity of Kimora Lee Simmons, and find the self-congratulatory of the Oscars perpetually interesting. Also, this year's show was pretty lame; I don't think I'm alone in that assessment.

But did I "REALLLLLY" want to be there? Hell no. I have zero interest in attending or participating in anything Oscar related, nor in the moviemaking business in general. If you mistook me having a couple of beers and some snacks with my friends in front of the tv and typing out the same observations I'd make out loud anyhow as envy (or bitterness) I'd have to say you're sorely mistaken. Sorry you didn't enjoy the post (or the whole blog itself? Your word choice makes discerning meaning difficult) and I hope nobody forced you to read it. If they did, I would question my relationship with said person, if I were you. No one likes to hear about people reading blogs against their will.

I will agree with you on one point: My porn name absolutely sucks. Too bad my mom's family had a tradition of naming cats Stanley, and that we lived on Shafer street. We all can't strip under the name Pouncer Mayfield or whatever yours might be.

Juno didn't suck. I've seen worse movies. I've also seen much better movies -- like The Savages, Michael Clayton and Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Kudos to the Fox marketing machine. Mission accomplished, fellas!

"I am so glad they let her come back and say her speech! I was irritated when they turned Marketa's mike off..."

I know!! I was pissed too, I was so happy that they let her come back out. Her speech was excellent so gracious and wonderful, best of the night.

Lindsay, I really felt that Juno's screenplay out-and-out sucked. Lines like "What the blog?" or "Phuket, Thailand" (said in a serious context) are just trying so impossibly hard to sound hip and 'with it'- I have a sister Juno's age and I've never heard her or her friends- or anyone ever, actually- talk like Juno. And name-dropping McSweeney's and the Stooges and Dario Argento just seemed like a way for Diablo Cody to prove how cool she is. There were way too many one-liners, and while some of them worked, I would have appreciated a little more dialog that sounded like it came from humans. I know a screenplay doesn't have to be realistic to be great (see: 40's screwball comedies), but Juno kept on saying how realistic it was, which pissed me off. The screenplay reminded of Robin Williams's acting: you know there's talent in there, but to work well it needs someone to step in and say "Take it down about seven notches" and guide them. And you really didn't think that ending duet was the most cloying thing ever?

Also, great job liveblogging.

Paul Thomas Anderson should totally have won something.

Best sight (besides "Falling Slowly" winning) was Cormac McCarthy standing up and applauding the Coens...another example of how standing your ground is a good thing (he had trouble getting published for years and wouldn't change his work the way people wanted him to).

Fashion question: WTF with the trend of encroaching feathers? the ones snaking around Jennifer Garner, and those encircling Jessica Alba's boobs? Also, Tilda Swinton's dress (was that Ghost? I bet it was Ghost) was absurd, but in my book any woman who can maintain a household with an older husband and a younger lover is a goddess.

Seriously David, it "sucked"? I mean, I can understand if you felt it wasn't as deserving for an award as one or more of the others in the category, or not even nominated, but "sucked"? It's witty and heartfelt without being cloying, and struck a chord with lots of people, including the Academy.

LOL, Ali. Cami Diaz is ridiculous.

Jimmy--I totally made a "don't ask, don't tell" joke when that kid read the first docu title.
