Bowling on the big screen
COMEDY
“Groundlings Swimsuit Edition” is the comedy troupe’s latest offering, with plenty of sketch and improv. Keep your fingers crossed that we won’t see them in Speedos. (But then again, Speedos are funny…)

8 pm // Groundling Theatre // 7307 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles // $21.50.

FILM
Crenshaw Boulevard comes to life in the hands of director Dan Wozniak and producer Christopher Molony. The documentary features 12 vignettes of people along the street’s 24 miles. And surprise, surprise – they find that not everyone’s a gangbanger. They live, work and dream. Just like you and me.

8 pm // Warner Grand Theatre // 478 West 6th St., San Pedro // $15.

FILM (OPTION 2)
"F*ck it, Dude, let's go bowling." The Big Lebowski’s on the big screen tonight at the Nuart.

11:50 pm // Nuart Theatre // 11272 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles // $7.25-$9.50.

ART FEST*

The Santa Monica Arts Festival starts today, with more than 200 painters, sculptors and other artists offering more than 15,000 wares to the public. But even if you (or your wallet) aren’t in the mood to buy, it’s a great way to meet and see the works of fine and up-and-coming artists.

Until 7 pm // Santa Monica Civic Auditorium // 1855 Main St., Santa Monica // $$8, $7 seniors (but you can download a coupon for a buck off here.

DANCE
As we saw in LAist yesterday, Liz Hoefner brings “Fear of Drowning/Fear of Flying” to the Diavolo Dance Space in the Brewery Arts Complex this weekend. It’s a choreographed collection of comedic and dramatic stories related to human fears in a post-9/11, after-Katrina world. To make a reservation, please e-mail: LizHoefner@aol.com.

8 pm // Diavolo Dance Space @ the Brewery Arts Complex // 616 Moulton Ave., Los Angeles // $20, $15 for students/seniors/DRC members.
