Encino Man Arrested for Breaking Legs, Jaw of Pit Bull Puppy
There are many ways to handle a tough break-up with a girlfriend, but torturing and injuring a little puppy isn't one of them. The Daily News reports that a 22-year old Encino man, Steven William Butcher, was arrested yesterday in the 6400 block of Bertrand Avenue for animal cruelty.
After a break-up with his girlfriend, Butcher was reportedly distraught and had threatened aloud to harm his small puppy. Worried about the man's mental state, a neighbor reported the concern to authorities and provided audiotape of the suspect harming the dog. Yelps of pain could be heard on the tape.
When police entered the home to investigate further, officers found a pit bull puppy in the laundry room sink, with the cold water running continouously. The puppy's two back legs and jaw were broken and it sustained "numerous" other injuries, according to the Department of Animal Services.
Butcher was booked on a charge of cruelty to animals, but posted $20,000 bail and was released. The puppy has been impounded by LA Animal Services. Anyone interested in fostering this or other animals in need has been asked to contact LA Animal Services.

why is this guy out on bail?
if he would have harmed his girlfriend, alrite, he's still a menace, but there's no danger to the general public i don't think. Someone who harms a puppy is a psychopath, and needs to be separated from society until they are cured or until they die.

I can only hope that he is hit by an SUV on the way out of paying bail. Mr Butcher is scum and deserves a good kicking.

These are the kind of people that pitbull maulings are made for. For anyone who knows though, pits that are horribly abused (and there's a lot of them) and somehow escape that existence, are some of the sweetest dogs around.

That man should get his jaw and legs broken. I only hope karma comes his way and he gets a fair share of abuse. I hope that sweet puppy gets a new home god bless the good samitirans who adopt him.
