Pencil This In: Saturday

FREE DAYS @ LACMA
Don't forget that today, tomorrow, and Monday admission to LACMA is free. There will be lots of extra entertainment on the grounds, and access to all the galleries, except the new Broad Contemporary, which has already sold out (of course!). But that means less people crowding the European paintings you love so much. Tickets need to be reserved in advanced online or by calling the box office.

Sat, Sun, & Mon 11 a.m.-8 p.m. // LACMA // 5905 Wilshire Blvd. // Free (with reservation)

Neon Benefactor's Wall at MONANEON, SPOKEN WORD & DOWNTOWN SIGHTS*
It's the "Poet's Beat Neon Cruise" hosted by Mike the PoeT rolling through the streets of Bukowski's Downtown, with jazzy riffs and rambling thoughts and lots of brightly lit bar signs. Put on by the folks at the Museum of Neon Art, tonight's bus tour kicks off at the Broadway Bar, and promises to be a unique insight into the dark--but neon-lit--side of LA.

8:00 p.m. // Broadway Bar // 830 S Broadway, Downtown // $25 MONA members; $35 Non-members (reservations required; call 213-489-9918)

THEATRE
Heather Woodbury's one-woman show, The Last Days of Desmond Nani Reese: A Stripper's History of the World, is set in the Los Angeles of 2014, and pokes fun at the seriousness of studying sex workers for academic purposes. The show, put on at the bang studio, centers on a student's quest to interview and eccentric 108-year-old stripper who lives with her 27 cats (meeeooowch!). Woodbury shifts roles with just a shift of her chair--it's a sight to behold!

8:00 p.m. // bang studio // 457 N. Fairfax Ave. // $10

FILM
Feel like cringing in your seat and gnawing your fist while one of Hollywood's most well-known pieces of gore and fear flashes before you? Check out a screening of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre tonight in Santa Monica, and watch Leatherface wreck havoc on all in his path.

7:30 p.m. // Aero Theatre // 1328 Montana Ave, Santa Monica // $10
