Burger King Fundraiser for Fallen SWAT Officer

eat a burger in honor of Randal Simmons today I wouldn't normally encourage anybody to go out and gorge on a Whopper, but today, the Burger King downtown at Cesar Chavez and Grand Avenue is donating 100% of its sales to the family of SWAT officer Randal Simmons, who was killed last week in a deadly shoot-out in Winnetka. The fundraiser will be running all day today, until midnight tonight.

A donation box will also be available at the restaurant for those who wish to contribute more than just a burger-worth to the Simmons family. The fundraiser is being organized by Ralph and Larry Cimmarusti, who own more than 50 Burger King franchises throughout Los Angeles and Texas. The Cimmarusti brothers are also encouraging other businesses in the area to match their fundraising efforts.

If burgers just aren't your style, you can still show your support by donating to the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, or to the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union.
