LAist: 'Anonymous' Protest Church of Scientology at CNN Building

I'm the guy with the red - not pink, folks - hair in the video, aka the cameraman, aka the editor. From where I was throughout the afternoon, I saw absolutely no press at all, only a few folks with cameras like Brian's or video camera's like mine, it was entirely citizen journalism all the way. I can't imagine any gathering of folks this large can not-be news, especially with so many singularities with an event like this one. All of the protesters seemed to be 15-25, it seems to be the first major revolt that's come from the internet out into the open, and the first major instance where the Church of Scientology hasn't attacked people dissing them with extreme vigor. It really is curious that even CNN, who as you can see here, got quite a taste of that group, couldn't be bothered to report it. It's funny that CNN ignores stories right outside their building on Sunset. It seems if there's an overturned dump truck or someone fell down the toilet anywhere in the Atlanta vicinity it's breaking news on any given weekday. These days it seems that the blogosphere is best at reporting eyewitness news. The 24-hour networks then meet in their bored-rooms and decide how to sensationalize it. Personally, I'd love to see Larry King interview someone with a V for Vendetta mask on.

I've seen coverage on CNN of Anonymous in the past few days, at least in news blurbs. But the blogs have pwned the MSM on this story. The question is though, is it really a story, or news that blogs made?

love this blog entry... that's the power and freedom of blog. not bounded by "what's hip" and "what'll sell" on TV. How can such protest not be reported on the air?! how corrupted in the general public media OnAir?
