FILM
The Pan African Film Festival started yesterday and runs until Feb. 18. Not only does the festival screen films, but it also holds workshops, comedy a spoken-word fest and a fashion show during its run. Tonight’s film is Who are the Scooby Bros?, a documentary about a group of men growing up in South Central Los Angeles who transformed their lives through roller skating. There will be a Q&A and appearances by Kool Modee, "Kid” from "Everybody Hates Chris" and The Scooby Brothers.

LITERARY
PEN USA, a national literary organization, is hosting a Toolbox event at CSUN tonight. There are two panels: “Craft” features Jamey Hecht, moderator, Eloise Klein Healy, Douglas Kearney and Terry Wolverton; and “Literary Magazines and Independent Presses” features Kate Gale, moderator, Leilani Hall and Veronique de Turenne.

BOB DYLAN
Bob Dylan’s American Journey 1956-1966 is a new exhibit organized by the Experience Music Project and opens at the Skirball today. It features Bob Dylan artifacts like song lyrics and handwritten notes. But the coolest part is a satellite exhibit that features “playing along with Dylan on keyboards, electric and acoustic guitars, drums and organs, as well as experiment with a mixing board on an authentic Dylan recording.”

THEATRE
In the new play Some Girl(s), a writer tries to make peace with his exes before getting married. But it can't be that simple - especially when it comes from the pen of Neil LaBute. Runs until March 9.

PEN USA is also holding another event in Beverly Hills tonight. The New Short Fiction Series™, Los Angeles’ only live literary “magazine,” presents Sex and Death by Stephanie Waxman starring spoken word artist Sally Shore, with guest cast Lorraine Michaels (Final Justice), Shaun Shimoda (Stew Rice) and Ron Warwick (28 Days).
