Orange Line Crash in Valley Village

Update, 5:05 P.M.: One of the patients is in critical condition according to ABC7 on air news. The Los Angeles Fire Department reports that the all patients are from the bus including the driver.

Yesterday it was a close call with the Blue Line, but today is the real deal. An Orange Line Metroliner bus has collided with an automobile on the 12700 block of Chandler Blvd. between Coldwater Cyn. and Whitsett. No further details on the cause of the crash (though we suspect the driver of the car, not the bus as it has been in the last 10 or so times) and four patients are being assessed.

Expect delays on your Orange Line commute home tonight.

This is one of the most dangerous lines in LA. That bus is a death trap.

Are you kidding me?! By death trap I assume you refer to people flying in front of it while blasting through red lights. !!!?!

Need to confirm this, but I once heard someone throw around the number 700 or so when speaking about the number of Blue Line incidents.

maybe if people driving their cars actually obeyed traffic laws and didn't try to drive around crossing gates there wouldn't be accidents?

Some think that these busway accidents are caused by scofflaws. Not so. Data taken from the red light cams used there tell that for some reason - probably the very complex double and triple intersection design - the (mostly older) motorists who run the busway lights are an average of 9 seconds late. Compared to the average at more conventional intersections in two other locales - one-half second.
