After the Humane Soceity of the United States released a video (seen below) of abused cows at a Chino slaughterhouse, the U.S. Department of Agriculture began an investigation on Wednesday. With a quick response, The California Department of Education Nutrition Services Division urged all public schools to check where their cafeteria meat was coming from and two fast food chains cut their ties with the Chino based Westland/Hallmark Meat Company.
The president of In-N-Out Burger, Mark Taylor, said Thursday his company decided to stop buying beef from the company after learning of the video.Jack in the Box asked suppliers to cut ties with the company and the Los Angeles Unified School District is temporarily removing most beef products from their menus as a precaution, the LA Times reports. The Irvine-based company has more than 200 restaurants in California, Nevada and Arizona.
"We would never condone the inhumane treatment of animals and, in fact, all of our suppliers must agree to abide by our strict standards for the humane treatment of cattle," Taylor said in a written statement.[Daily Bulletin]
So much for those commercials promoting happy cows in California. Time to start buying Wisconsin dairy and meat products? Oh wait, you should just go vegetarian! xoxo.

so...let me get this straight...we can make a laptop computer fit in an envelope..send a robot to mars...but have to use forklifts to move cattle?
very very sad
it's sad and funny that In n Out considers cattle slaughter of any kind "humane"
