Community policing is both comforting and unnerving. I live in Burbank. I was pulled over for a missing brake light, and the police officer asked me how work was.

I came home and asked my husband, "How did he know at 2:05am that I was coming home from work and not a bar?"

My husband said, "Because the last time they pulled me over they knew where I was GOING."

Mayberry will be offering an open house this coming Friday evening. Cyclists are invited to gather at the Santa Monica Pier at 6:30 pm.

Festivities include a joyous expression of our 1st Amendment right to gather in the public place, our 4th Amendment right to be secure in our person and property and of course a bicycle ride celebrating the joy and virtues of bicycling.

Dress warmly and bring illumination!
