In yet another blow to Western civilization, Meet the Spartans ($18.7M) edged Rambo ($18.1M) to win the weekend box office crown. 27 Dresses proved surprisingly robust in its second frame, adding $13.6M ($45.3M) to its coffers. Last week's winner, Cloverfield, went in the opposite direction, plummeting over 68% and bringing in only $12.7M ($64.2M). The weekend's third wide opener, Untraceable finished fifth with $11.2M, in-line with expectations and just ahead of the indomitable Juno ($10.3M/$100.1M).

The Bucket List continued to chug along despite poor reviews ($10.2/$57.6M) while There Will Be Blood surged after adding almost 500 new theaters ($4.8M/$14.7M). Rounding out the top 10 were National Treasure: Book of Secrets ($4.6M/$205.4M) and Mad Money ($4.6M/$15.2M). How She Move disappointed in its debut ($4.1M) while U2 3D ($15,508 per theaters) and 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days ($24,100 per) led the limited release crowd. Finally, Shoot Down ($2304) and The Air I Breathe ($3071) both collapsed in their opening weekends.
