Secret LA Memorial for Heath Ledger Held Last Night

A secret memorial service for Heath Ledger was held last night in LA

Reports are surfacing this morning of a secret memorial service held last night in Westwood for Heath Ledger, who was found dead earlier this week in a New York apartment.

Although rumors of an intended public memorial were swirling about the newswires yesterday, no formal announcements were made regarding services to honor the Aussie actor locally. The rainy night gathering took place at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary, and it's being reported that "Heath's father, other relatives and ex-fiancee, actress Michelle Williams, arrived in dark SUVs and left after about a half-hour" and that actress "Naomi Watts, who dated Ledger for nearly two years, was seen going into the chapel where his coffin lay."

Ledger's body was sent here from New York earlier this week, and will now move on to his hometown of Perth, Australia, where he will be buried.

Why make it sound sensational and say "secret" -- why not call it what it was, a private memorial service? His family doesn't owe the public any information.
