Obama Takes SC: Now It's All About February 5th

Barack is on a roll. He doubled Hillary Clinton's vote count in South Carolina's primary election yesterday. And Caroline Kennedy's op-ed (titled "A President Like My Father") in this morning's New York Times is adding fuel to the fire as pundits across the ideological spectrum ponder the B.O. mo-mo like they haven't since Iowa, a long three-and-a-half weeks ago.

Now it's all about February 5. Consider your feelings about the primary today and think about how much the pols are gonna fuck with us over the course of the next 9 days. Sure, 1,688 delegates are at stake a week from Tuesday. But with 370 delegates (state legislators later award 71 more), California carries more weight in the Democratic primary than any other state (New York has 232). Candidates must win 2,025 delegates nationwide -- a simple majority -- to win the Democratic party's presidential nomination .

How much bullshit must we go through just to get Bush out of office? Brace yourself for a week-long barrage of empty promises, automated phone calls, and multilingual campaign commercials.
