Writers Strike - Day 81 - Xena Picket Day

Today was "Xena Picket Day" at NBC. The event was timed to coincide with a Xena conventon this weekend. Fans turned out in droves - giving me a reason to use the word "droves".
One fan was offering free fencing lessons to the strikers. This could come in handy if the strike ends up being settled by a duel.

Many of the shows writers, creators and actors were on hand. Here, Co-Executive Producer Steven L. Sears compares hats with a fan.

Even action figures support the writers!

There was a great turnout, especially since it was pouring rain almost the entire time.

Several fans attempted to stay dry under the NBC awning...

...but they were kicked out by security guards, who stayed nearby to make sure that everyone got adequately drenched.

The fans really went all out, and made sure that the striking writers had an ample supply of pizza, pastries, and various snacks.

Someone dropped off these adorable homemade cookies.

And if you were still thirsty after downing some coffee and vitamin water, there was actually Xena water on hand.

These ladies made their own t-shirts!

Besides getting their pictures with the writers and actors, fans also got their pictures taken with other fans.

One of the Xena fans took advantage of the free fencing lessons.

...actually, I'm gonna guess that if you talk to the writers, Xena and Gabrielle weren't happy with every script.

The Xena fans know their stuff. I bet there's not too many shows where the fans can actually name the writers.

The writers thanked the fans for turning out.

Today I learned that female science fiction writers identify each other by wearing pink hats. Kind of like how Children Television writers identify themselves by wearing diamond studded nipple rings.

Battle On Writers!

Even Puppet Monkeys support the writers!

Fairness for all? Sounds reasonable to me. This lady flew in from Australia for the Xena convention this weekend. Like a lot of people that were there today, she changed her travel plans to come out early and show her support for the striking writers.

The fans, like the WGA showed that they have strong resolve. I mean, it was 40 degrees out and this girl's wearing a mini-skirt!
