Weird Los Angeles: Strange Things Afoot!

Bigfoot

Welcome to the bizarre world of 'Weird Los Angeles', where shaggy-haired man-beasts roam the back roads, eerie phantoms drift through the night and peculiar objects move silently across the zenith. We'll be taking you on a weekly tour of the cities anomalies, beginning with sightings of Bigfoot, where it seems reports date back to the 1970s.

Two witnesses out hunting in the San Gabriel mountains observed an eight-feet tall hairy humanoid through their rifle scopes, convinced that the bipedal being was not a bear. In 1974 at Quartz Hill, California, between 45th and 47th Streets, two youths, chopping wood at night in open desert terrain, observed the top-half of a hairy figure which stood on the other side of a six-foot fence. The beast was covered in hair and its eyes reflected amber as it stared at the terrified witnesses.

In '76 at Azusa, two guys fishing during the early hours in June, were stalked by a heavy, bipedal creature that eventually crashed through the foliage which a human would struggle to penetrate. In the same year, during Fall, bobcat hunter's unintentionally attracted a man-beast by using an injured rabbit call. Something large, but which remained in the woodland shadows of the Saint Gabriel Mountains cut the tense atmosphere with a horrifying scream.

Two teenagers out camping encountered a Bigfoot during the '80s at Santa Clarita. Whilst sitting in their tent chatting one night, they heard a twig snap outside in the darkness. Something large was circling the tent. The guys shouted a warning to the unseen invader thinking it may be a bear and then fired into the direction of the intruder, hoping the shot would deter the presence. It did not. The thing outside remained. The youngsters were terrified and fled, holing up somewhere by a roadside until the next day when they returned to their camp, expecting to see carnage but eerily, nothing had been touched. It was then that they came face to face with the mystery presence, a hair-covered, eight-feet tall man that casually stood and stared at the witnesses before slipping into the woods.
