Run Towards Your Resolutions

Run Towards Your Resolutions

I’ve never been one for New Year’s Resolutions – it just seems like paving the way to letting myself down sometime mid-February. Besides, if I can’t stick to something in, say, June, why would I be able to stick to it in January?

But Nike is hoping to push those folks who have fitness-oriented aspirations to stick with it, and is hosting two more “Resolution Runs” this month; tonight (pending weather), and next Thursday, the 31st.

The idea is to get a bunch of runners, athletic or not so athletic, together to help encourage each other to stick to their 2008 goals. Participants can just show up (no need to pre-register), and the event is free. Once there, runners can sign up for 1-mile, 3-mile, or 5-mile runs, and will be paired up with a team leader to make sure they’re staying on pace.

Of course, our attention was drawn to this even in the first place because tonight’s run starts at Barney’s Beanery in Pasadena, and we were wondering if maybe there would be snacks or drinks courtesy of the Pas-Bean. We think not, but it proved to be an effective strategy for at least getting our attention.
