Sutherland's Been Doing Laundry in the Big House

actor kiefer sutherland will be released from jail on mondayInstead of careening around town three sheets to the wind, actor Kiefer Sutherland has spent the last forty-odd days washing sheets while serving laundry duty in a Glendale jail as part of his drunken-driving sentence.

The 24 star has been a model prisoner, according to recent reports. He had asked to do his time in Glendale instead of downtown in the LA County Jail, and the request was granted with the stipulation that he not be able to get any time off for good behavior. But he has behaved himself regardless. CBS2.com quotes Officer John Balian, who is stationed at the jail where Sutherland spent his Christmas vacation: "He was very humble, never complained [...] He didn't give us any problems at all."

Sutherland's 48-day-sentence is comprised of 30 days for driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit and 18 days for having violated probation on a previous drunk driving incident in 2004. He is due to be released tomorrow.
