Dude! Today's The Doo Dah Parade!
The BBQ & Hibachi Marching Grill Team are taking part in the mischief of the Doo Dah Parade, as they did above in '05
Forget the pageantry and regal demeanor of the Rose Parade, the 31st Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade is the ultimate antidote. Billed as being the loud and irreverent twister sister of the aforementioned annual march down Colorado Boulevard, the parade promises to "send up a woolly range of mischiefs, grounded superheroes, political pundits, homegrown satirists, art car inventors, and other bohemian frolickers."
This year's Grand Marshal is Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping, an "anti-consumerism guru [who] has established a colorful reputation for his 'retail interventions' at such commercial icons as Starbucks and Disneyland’s Main Street Parade." Other hooligans will include the Parade's Queen, Naughty Mickie, and a broad sampling of local celebrants, like the LA Derby Dolls, the BBQ & Hibachi Marching Grill Team, Dead Robert Palmer Girls, Fabulous Sons of Ed Wood, Horses on Astroturf, Humbolt State Marching Lumberjacks, Let's Paint TV, and so many, many more.
The festivities kick off at 11:30 a.m. in Old Town Pasadena, at Raymond and Colorado [map of parade route/driving directions], and you are encouraged to ride the Gold Line and bring your lawn chair. Oh, and your sense of humor. Don't you dare forget that! The Doo Dah Parade will cost you absolutely nothing. Except for many, perhaps just their pride.

Now why did they change the date of this from pre-Roses to post?

Part of it had to do with lack of funds, needing more time for planning, and a desire to set themselves apart from the Rose Parade (which they were founded to spoof).
It was very controversial, but as the officials said, it is the OCCASIONAL Dooh-Dah parade, not the ANNUAL Dooh-Dah parade, so people shouldn't expect predictability.
