The Mars Volta, not that I'm some kind of outraged fan, had terrible terrible sound on Letterman last night. I've noticed this over the last few years, yeah I'm slow, that the sound production on the live band performances (not "the CBS Orchestra") is always sub par on Letterman. All the other late night shows have better live sound, Late Night needs to figure this out.

In other newsies, I'm hoping that the Colbert vs. Conan war regarding Mike Huckabee's success keeps getting funnier. Also, Conan, no matter how many times you try, Chazz Palminteri isn't that funny or entertaining - what is this guy's hold on you?

9:00pm Friday Night Lights NBC - Uh, new episode, yay. Something about high school football.

9:00pm Monk USA - New episode!!

10:00pm NUMB3RS CBS - New episode (hey our editor likes this show) A serial rapist uses his position as a police officer to ensnare his victims

11:30pm The Late Show With David Letterman CBS - Diane Keaton!! Jim Gaffigan!!! (check out LAist's interview with Jim)
