FILM
A Bloody Aria, a film from Korea about a professor, his pretty student and a possible murder, opens tonight for a one-week engagement in Little Tokyo. It’s been compared to Deliverance, but with a dark sense of humor. (We wonder if there’s any pig squealing in this one?)

Times vary // ImaginAsian Center // 251 S. Main St., Los Angeles // $7-$10.

MUSIC / SPOKEN WORD
Tonight the CalArts Creative Music Festival features the Art Ensemble of Chicago, violinist Mark Feldman and pianist Sylvie Courvoisier and Dwight Trible’s Sacred Human Echoes that features poet and vocalist Kamau Daaood. If you like the avant-garde, then REDCAT’s where you need to be tonight.

8:30 pm // REDCAT // 631 W. Second St., Los Angeles // $10-$20.

MORE FILM
The documentary Lynch gives viewers a glimpse into the life and work of director David Lynch – who, like his movies, is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. The film by director blackANDwhite, encompasses two years of footage as Lynch completes his latest film Inland Empire. (Lynch’s short films will be screened following the documentary.)
.
7:30 pm // LACMA // 5905 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles // $9.

THEATRE
We love this title:A Brief History of Penguins and Promiscuity is a play about love and who fathered a kid named Ernest. It’s written in high Victorian English, but set in contemporary Vermont.

7:30 PM // GTC Burbank // 1111-B West Olive Avenue, Burbank // $25-$30.

VINO
If you want to learn about syrah/shiraz, then head over to H.D. Buttercup at a Learn About Wine seminar: “Que Syrah / Shiraz.” There will be 40 wines available including: Penfolds, Shiraz, Barossa Valley; D'Arenburg Dead Arm Shiraz, Australia; and Carlisle, Syrah, Sonoma County. Sounds yummy.

7:30 pm // H.D. Buttercup // 3225 Helms Ave., Los Angeles // $40-$75.
