Laker GM: Searching For Tall Dude
What to do, Lakers fans! As the countdown to tip off commences against evil vampire leader Steve Nash and the rest of the Suns (ironic, isn’t it? That they’re named the Suns? Because Vampires HATE sun!), the faithful should cherish the Laker’s tentative hold on that first place spot in the western conference. We ain’t gonna have it long, folks.
Laker GM Mitch Kupchak called into the Dan Patrick Show on AM 570 KLAC this morning to comment on the Laker’s impending doom, and in typical silver fox fashion, left the listener shrouded in mystery. There were a few insights, however, especially when Patrick asked about the rumors that the organization was looking at signing Chris Webber. While Kupchak neither confirmed nor denied the speculation surrounding some of the names that have been thrown out by the media, he did say that the Lakers were not comfortable in riding out the season sans Bynum and someone would be added to the roster in the next day or so. Those familiar with Kupchak’s lack of decision making hustle in the past should be encouraged by this comparatively speedy reaction.
Perhaps the signing of ancient relic Chris Webber will inspire backup Kwame Brown, to step up, and, you know, play basketball. One could hope. However, I have the feeling that Kwame, gifted with the serenity of most living Adonises, will be affected little by this development and will continue to perform like a mattress back for the rest of the season.
