LAist: What's The Deal, Nintendo?

I guess I was lucky, I didn't want a Wii until Jan of 07. It then took me *only* 2 weeks to find it - using the Wii Seeker site - which listed all the stores and their scheduled Wii Shipment dates. All I had to do was call on the day of the listed shipment and went to the one that still had some (Glendora Wal-mart). That particular website no longer exists but there might be others out there...

I have been able to find a Wii a few times by checking stores that most people would not bother checking. Here's a tip for anyone that is still looking. Check the video game stores on Monday around lunch time. Most stores get their systems on Mondays.

You also may want to try less popular game stores. I got my DS last year at the KB Toys on Woodman and Riverside. NO one goes there.

I work in the videogame industry, and even we were having trouble getting Nintendo DSes(generally, we have higher priority) so the shortage seems to be real..

i dont get why nintendo doesn't say fuck the retail stores and ebay scam artists, and start selling the Wii and the DS straight from nintendo.com or a nintendo store in the mall like the apple store.
