Or hey, same goes for Whittier and the Whittier Daily News. "It's a new year and we are on the lookout for letters to the editor. If you have a person that wants to write one, or is expressing an opinion on an article or photo, direct them to write a letter to editor..." That's Mickie of Mickie's Zoo talking. She's a professional belly dancer (swords are her specialty), a singer in a rock band and a full-time journalist. She also has been crowned the Queen of the 31st Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade that will take place on January 20th.

Elsewhere in local media, The LA Times released their top 10 stories on LATimes.com based on pageviews. The winner "was nothing the paper's reporters covered or exposed or explained... [it was] a story the print paper tried to bury," as LA Observed explains. The story was transsexual sportswriter Mike Penner's coming out as Christine Daniels.

In the same post, LA Observed reports that their contributing writer Veronique de Turenne will launch a local city news blog at the Times city desk later this month. Meanwhile, the New York Times' city desk blog, City Room, is moving to print in a print-online cross-promotion to make print readers aware of how much is online.
