Dead Former Mayor Worried About Spielberg's Movie

Spielberg is doing an Abbie Hoffman movie

The media is certainly getting a little whacky. Today, the Chicago Tribune has an interview with Hizzoner, the former and now deceased Mayor Richard J. Daley of Chicago. deceased or not, here's what's up:

He's bothered by news reports that Steven Spielberg is planning a movie of the disastrous 1968 Chicago Democratic National Convention, starring the guy from "Borat" as leftist protester Abbie Hoffman.

"Are they going to paint the administration in a favorable light? Answer that question. It's easily answerable. No, they are not," Hizzoner told me. "They are going to make the protesters and the hippies seem like Bambis and noble creatures when in fact they were here for the express purpose of creating disturbances, causing disorder in the streets of Chicago."

[...]

"No one will mention the fact in this movie, and I guarantee you this, no one will mention the fact that 51 police officers lay injured in the streets of Chicago. ... [The protesters] sat down in the middle of the streets in the worst kind of language, the foulest kind of language you wouldn't even use in a brothel, four-letter words up on their heads, I can't even repeat it now for the television cameras." [Chicago Tribune]

There's even a video of the interview on the Tribune's website. And if you haven't figured it out, it's all a ploy with an actor in a play in the Chicago suburb of Skokie. Do you remember any other Hollywood movies lies referencing Chicago, specifically Skokie? (Hint: "I used to be in a barbershop quartet in Skokie, Illinois..." Answer after the jump).

The Usual Suspects.

Cussing is the perfect reason to bash some heads in. This is, after all, a proper person's 2-party democracy.
