New Year's Resolutions - Your Guide to Style with Erinn Valencich from Ominarte Design

Erinn Valencich with Omniarte Design

I didn't want to just do a "best of" list. So this year, I've decided to take a years worth of personal New Year's Resolutions, ask around for those of friends and put a call out to readers (email me here) about things you've always wanted to know, always wanted to do and then take those requests and ask an expert, an insider to help out. The result? Here goes...

Today, we're kicking off with the following resolution:
"I've always wanted to make my apartment feel more put together. My resolution this year is to attack one room at a time and make it look like a professional came in and redecorated for me!"

So I went to an interior designer and stylist to the stars, Erinn Valencich, owner of Omniarte Design and host of several specials on HGTV, Style and a frequently quoted expert on design and event tips. I asked her for her favorite stores around town to make both the big statements and also the small touches. Here are some of her favorites.

  • Bamboo Colony on Beverly- They have the best mix of modern glamour- always unique gorgeous pieces and lovely accessories and great art. A must for anyone looking to update their home.
  • Plantation on La Brea- one of my favorite spots for accessories. Very creative and a nice mix. A great place to get a home related gift for someone.
  • Maison Midi on La Brea- love going here for that French touch- nice linens, amazing dishware and table cloths. Very eclectic.

  • Diva on Robertson and Beverly. If you want high end modern- this is the place to go.
  • Between the Sheets on Robertson- this is the best bedding in town. A lot of it is super frilly, but if you look a little deeper, you’ll find the most gorgeous sheets, duvets, pillows and throw blankets. Great lighting and bathroom accessories as well.
  • I couldn’t live without William Sonoma Home- love their accessories and rugs.
  • Plush Pod has great super modern accessories- killer collection of rugs.
  • Jonathan Adler is always full of wonderful pieces to give a little hip, groovy touch to any home.
  • I love Shelter on La Brea for modern bedding and affordable custom furniture.
  • Artichoke & Co in Santa Monica is really cute- great gifts, holiday décor, etc.
  • A Room At The Beach in Malibu at the country mart has great pieces as well.
  • And, last but not least, Home Goods is my go-to spot for discount accessories, dishware, linens, art, lamps and rugs. You have to hunt but it’s like a TJ Maxx for the home.
