I fucking HATE Costco. I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!
Costco is a land of lawlessness. People cut you off with their big, giant carts. They block you from getting to the "shelf", and will tear out your jugular to get at the free samples.
The parking lot is a madhouse. Perfectly nice people suddenly zoom in and steal spots from people who have clearly been sitting there for 5 minutes with their blinker on. Families rush behind my truck as it backs up as if they had a death wish. Maybe I would have a death wish too if I just spent an hour in Costco with three kids.
Every year we promise we are not going to renew our Costco card.
Then we throw a party.
There is no party without Costco. Their meatballs are seriously the only decent meatballs that don't require hours in the kitchen. And when I'm throwing a party, every minute saved is a godsend.
Of course, the giant carts and giant aisles fool me into buying too much food, so there is not so much savings as waste. When I get to my car, my groceries have mysteriously doubled in size. I am convinced they hire giants to work there.
I am always stressed out by the time I finally make it out of the parking lot. But the liquor sales, the hotdogs, the chocolate toffee almonds that are the only thing keeping me calm right now - they all keep me attached to the teat.
I am totally Costco's bitch.

I love Costco, I just try to avoid it during the busiest periods at all costs. When Costco is at it's busiest, it is a pain, but if you catch it just after it opens, it's usually much nicer (especially during the week if you can).
When it comes to the large quantities, I just don't buy anything that I won't go through. If it's something that lasts, or something small enough to eat in a short period, I will buy it there, otherwise no, like I will never buy mayonnaise there.
Oh yeah, it also makes me crazy that they don't let you in til 11am!
I usually only need to go there during the holidays, which I know makes it much worse.
I'm rested now, and I've recovered from the madness.
It depends on the store and the time of year. The best time is if you have a Business or Executive membership, during the initial Business only hour.
Regarding the holidays, I try to avoid Costco during the holidays, especially on the weekend.
The whole linchpin of Costco is those hot dogs and the cheap gas. Without those two deals, the whole place would descend into Thunderdome, like that.
I have been a Costco member since 1991 and I am loyal to Costco. I supported the ways the company treats its employees. I trust Costco will bring the best value for my purchase. I became a share holder 2 years ago which reinforced me to buy everything from Costco if I can. I am very happy to see Costco pack with customers and I usually shop on a weekend when the store open its door. The only suggestion I have for Costco is to limit its refund policy.
