Two Christmas Rapes, Two Arrests, Two Women on the Loose
If good things come in threes, it seems bad things come in twos, at least today in LA:
- Edward Gage, a 31-year old Lancaster man, has been arrested for an alleged Christmas Day rape of a 16-year-old girl. When Gage's victim ignored his attempts to get directions as she walked to a friend's house, he pulled her shirt and tried to remove her clothing. She punched him in the face and got away!
- Francisco Santiago Ramos was arrested last night in the suspected Christmas Eve rape & robbery of a woman in her room at the West Coast Inn in the 1200 block of North Grove Avenue. A tipster, after seeing video surveillance footage on TV, gave police the info that nabbed the suspect.
- Two women, armed with guns and wearing hooded sweatshirts, have robbed a dozen late-night convenience stores in the San Fernando Valley and Ventura County during the past few weeks. Their latest robbery took place last week and authorities are alerting the media that the women are "brazen" and still on the loose. Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division at 213.485.2511.

Re: number 1... if she got away would he still be arrested for rape? Wouldn't it be for assault or something else? I'm not trying to be a smart ass here I'm sincerely curious what the charges would be.

According to the Daily News, he was "booked on suspicion of attempted rape and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail."

Re: #3, I'm not condoning robbing a convenience store, but would the police describe male suspects as "brazen"? Oh, those brazen ladies! Don't they know that only men rob convenience stores?
