Old Town Pasadena: Dinner, Shopping, Shooting

Yesterday, as shoppers lined the streets of Old Town Pasadena, four shots rang out on Colorado Blvd. A 23-year old man, the intended victim, was hit once in the back. He's in stable condition at a nearby hospital. It is, the LA Times reports, the area's first shooting. Channel 9 happened to be there.
Old Town Pasadena is filled with mostly mallish chain stores and dining establishments and a few independent restaurants, but it's tolerable because it's not actually in a mall... and because it has H&M. The shooting took place west of H&M, on the other side of Fair Oaks, right on Colorado Blvd. Police said that it was chaos on the street as hundreds of pedestrians tried to find cover.
The suspected gunman, Marcus Cole, 18, was apprehended. But the reason for the shooting has been explained so far as being the result of an "altercation." (Really?)
The upside to getting shot in Old Town: Take a bullet in the middle of the street and there'll be a doctor among the passers-by who comes to your aid.

All hell is breaking loose here in (seemingly) lovely Pasadena

Did you see the news clip - the Dr. helping out said the victim said "Two black guys were trying to take my homie's weed!"
Maybe it's just me...but I probably wouldn't try to incriminate myself, or my friends, especially while in Pasadena.
Glad I decided to go home - I left work around 7PM - my office is two blocks away...
