Hey. I spent a solitary christmass hiking in the mountains, did some work in a cafe, did the movie-alone thing (Sweeny Todd--so gory!), and hit up a bar with other orphans and jews. All in all, a satisfying 25th.

I'm totally with you, sistah. And I'm not even 1,000 miles from home. My family's two miles away, a distance I'll be biking for the obligatory visit in a couple hours. Waking up solitary--but not lonely or sentimental--this morning, I've got plenty of cards, a few gifts, and a hairball my cat coughed up overnight to clean up. Feels unextraordinary. Nice to sleep in on a Tuesday, then go for a hike. Funny. But not bad. Enjoy the day, everyone.

Ever since college started, my Christmas days have been wonderfully family-free, a treat for a kid sprouting from the loins of white trash. Now, no Christmas is complete without sweet & sour shrimp or orange chicken...gotta love those wonderfully magnificent heathens whom care not for the baby jeebus. Merry Christmas!
