Fake Snow made from soap and water is nothing new, especially in Hollywood. The Grove has been doing it for years. As far as I can tell, nobody has ever been hurt. It makes people happy.

Dubya:
1) Thank you for taking the time to leave such a pleasant comment and Happy Holidays to you too.

2) You say I should write about "major fucking problems." Good suggestion. Maybe I should write about animal abuse I uncovered at a pet spa? Or about the fate of a 217-year-old Los Angeles landmark? Or, shit, maybe national politics? Done, done and done.

3) I agree that The Grove is Satan's playground (I was there because I had a gift certificate to a movie theater), but just because the place is private property does not mean they are free to do whatever they want.

4) You seem to imply (pampered) that just because I happened to be at The Grove I am like the millionaire shopper who pays $500 for a pair of jeans instead of the $30k a year journalist I am. What gives you that impression besides your own lack of logical skills?

5) It's cold outside so I should get my head back in my ass but, before I did that, I just wanted to ask: what the fuck are you doing? You say The Grove engages in unfair business practices? What the fuck are you doing sitting here leaving rancorous comments? If some little kid walks out of that mall rubbing his burning eyes from soap mixed with water is this still a non-issue?

The Grove is private property. That means they can spew whatever the hell they want, wherever they want.

There are numerous reasons to NOT shop at the Grove - the exorbitant prices, the ubiquitous emphasis on outrageous consumption, the pre-fab "exterior" facades fabricated to mimic an organic downtown, the inclusion of retailers with disgusting business practices and horrific treatment of laborers - and the FAKE SNOW is what you have a problem with? Seriously? Oh, it could "irritate your eyes"? THAT is your biggest problem with the Grove?

If you don't like the way a private business conducts business, especially if it's over a non-issue such as this one, stop giving your money to that business. Simple.

When you pull your head out of your self-indulgent, pathetic, pampered little ass and realize the world has some major fucking problems, write about those, will ya? Until then, exercise your right to choose and walk the hell away, both from the shopping center and your word processor.

My roomie and I went to a small bar/club last weekend and they had a snow machine. Our eyes and noses were burning the rest of the night.
