Pencil This In: Friday

COMEDY: Good for the Jews brings their rock/comedy show to the Knitting Factory tonight. Check out their MySpace page for their hits like “Jews for Jesus,” “JDate” and “They Tried to Kill Us.”

PHOTOGRAPHY: Sound engineer and producer Eddie Kramer has worked with Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and numerous others. In between laying down tracks, Kramer snapped photos. Lots of photos. Kramer will be present at his retrospective sharing stories and signing prints.

7-10 pm // Von Dutch // 819 N. La Brea Ave. // Free.

THEATRE: We love the title of this show: “A Lesson in Proper Bow-Fluffing Technique.” In this solo and semi-autobiographical performance, actor-writer Trey Nichols plays a customer service rep during the holiday season. He provides a humorous behind-the-scenes look at working the front lines of an unnamed department store.

8 pm // Santa Monica Playhouse // 1211 4th St., Santa Monica // $18.

ART: The LBC’s got culture, too. The Long Beach Museum of Art is free on Fridays. Its permanent collection is strong in American decorative arts objects, early 20th century European art, California Modernism and contemporary art of California. Current exhibitions are “About Face: Portraiture Now” and “Picturing Identity: Selections from the Permanent Collection and the Gail Oxford Collection.”

11 am-5 pm. // Long Beach Museum of Art // 2300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach // Free.
