LAPD Saves 382 Pot Plants After FD Squelches Studio City Patio Fire

pot bust studio city cbs2LAFD responded to a fire in the 3200 block of Dos Palos Drive in Studio City Sunday morning. The blaze was confined to the patio of the residence but upon entering the home, firefighters saw what appeared to be weed.

LAPD followed up and confiscated 382 marijuana plants -- approx. 48 pounds -- growing in the garage.

37-year-old Eric Porter of Studio City was later arrested and booked on suspicion of
felony cultivation of marijuana, in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to LAPD officer Mike Lopez.

No word on whether or not Porter had a "please save my weed" sign on his front door but he's in luck tonight.

CBS2's report from the scene after the jump.

I would loved to have been one of those cops!

Geez Andy... that's a somewhat misleading headline.

Those plants have not been saved, merely incarcerated prior to their eventual execution.

Heh, y'know -- I couldn't help but think of the recent case in which the LAPD was ordered to return a quarter of weed to a man who used it legally as medication.

So, I'm thinking they DID and DO save it, until the ganj itself is ordered up in smoke.
