It's starting to feel like a Michael Connelly novel chock full of mob hits and urban noir. The Pink Elephant liquor store in Los Feliz, a mysterious suitcase and body parts found in a dumpster. Much is still unexplained after the body's discovery on Friday, which broke in the news last night.
A store worker was throwing away boxes at the store on the 1600 block of Western Avenue when he noticed the suitcase and a "foul smell." A call to the police and the next thing you know, there's police tape, dogs, CSIs and lots of questions.
The man, who was in his late 40s, has been identified, but the release of his name is pending family notification.
*UPDATE: It was Patrick Moore, a 47-year-old African American man and his body was found in two separate dumpsters. The suspect, Frank Moore Ruiz, 21, who lives on the 1700 block of N. Western Ave., has been arrested. The cause of death and motive are unknown.

hey zach, i was on the homicide report and they are saying the suspect is a man named frank ruiz not frank moore, as you say above. it's a big error, as when i read it i understood that a family member is suspected and they are not, at least as far as we know. just thought you should be aware. thanks!
