Where to Go When You Gotta Go

MizPeeScreenshot.jpg

Like a good man, a good toilet can be hard to find.

And much like in the ways of love, it seems the more desperately you need one, the harder it is to find one.

This need to pee freely--and in a clean environment--has sprung forth a website called MizPee, which keeps tabs of the toilets in several major cities, including our own. Site users can search by address and see how local loos fare and how far they are. They use something akin to a star system for ratings, only the stars are swapped for--what else?--rolls of toilet paper. Vital info like if a purchase is required by the establishment is also included, to save you from having to buy that pack of gum or bottle of water you didn't really want in the first place. You can also add a toilet with which you've had a pleasant or unpleasant encounter, or keep tabs on the best and worst porcelain thrones around; looks like they need our help, too, because no matter what address I punch in I'm 780 feet away from a restaurant called Bamboo House on a street called Edgemount, which is something I'm pretty sure my neighbors would disagree with.

The screenshot above shows their current listings for LA's best and worst.

Hmmm, kind of like online dating for people and toilets.

You know, I read about this site last week and immediately visited it. Like so many of these things online, it seems to cater to the white hipster and/or tourist. It took a while before we actually found a bathroom near some place we'd actually go. So, we were going to add some bathrooms, but doesn't seem there's a way to do that either.
