Eat your greens. Farmers markets rule!

FARMERS MARKET: Downtown’s latest farmers market takes place in the Fashion District. So hit up some holiday shopping then treat yourself to some of the freshest foods around.

4-7 pm // Fashion District // 716 S. Los Angeles St., Downtown // Free.

ART: Diego Cardoso is the Executive Officer of Transportation Development and Implementation for the MTA who headed the East Side Gold Line project. He's also on the city planning commission. But his other passion is art. "Transforming City: 21st Century LA" is Cardoso's solo show featuring his works in acrylics and metals. There's an opening night reception tonight -- right near the Fashion District's farmers market -- but his show runs until Jan. 5.

6:30-8 pm // Ground Floor at Santee Court Gallery // 716 S. Los Angeles St., Suite C, Downtown // Free.

FILM: After playing in Paris for 15 years, LA plays host to the Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival for the first time from Dec. 5-16. Science fiction and adventure films are at the heart of the festival. Guests at the festival include: William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Stan Lee and some of the cast of Heroes.

Opens today (check website for film and event times) // Shrine Auditorium 665 W. Jefferson Blvd., Downtown // Prices vary.

PLAY READING: A reading of Look Homeward, Angel by Ketti Frings is modeled after Thomas Wolfe’s 1929 Southern Renaissance, coming-of-age novel.

7:30 pm // Spiritworks // 260 North Pass Avenue, Burbank // Free.

WRITER’S WORKSHOP: Say you’re working on the great American novel, but no one in your family wants to read your work. The Anansi Writers Workshop has a new works critique session, a featured reading and an open mic session for the first 10 people to sign up.

7:30-10:30 pm // The World Stage // 4344 Degnan Blvd., Los Angeles// $5 suggested donation.

SHOPPING: Shecky’s Girls Night Out is a 5-hour-shopping marathon: filled with endless fashion, glamour, beauty, shopping, cocktails, freebies and fun. Vendors include BodyRocks jewelry, Become beauty and Amen designs. Must be 21 or older.

9 pm // The Barker Hanger at the Santa Monica Airport // 3021 Airport Ave., Santa Monica // $25 (includes goodie bag).

OMG. I am so excited about this new column. If the hour and a half drive to Beverly Hills wasn't so fresh in my mind and if I didn't have to stay at work until 10pm tomorrow night, I would want to do all these things!

Please prepare for many after-work outings based on these posts.

The farmer's market mentioned is actually from 5-8pm on Wednesday.
