TV Junkie: Monday

W.C. FieldsDid anyone else catch SciFi's Tin Man last night? Definitely worth watching into Part Deux (they will repeat Part One at 7:00pm). I wish I could say the same about Comedy Central's Last Laugh '07 - I love Lewis Black, Dave Attell, and D.L. Hughley, but they crammed their acts, a lengthy animated intro, and a Q/A session into one hour. The end result left a lot to be desired.

7:00pm David Copperfield TCM - (1935) Xmas-time means Dickens, and plenty of it. This excellent version of David Copperfield stars li'l Lord Fauntleroy hisself, Freddie Bartholomew, as well as Basil Rathbone, Lionel Barrymore and most notably, W.C. Fields.

8:00pm Troy AMC - It's a sweaty Brad Pitt vs. Orlando Bloom in hot Greek warfare action. I know this is someone's fantasy but have some coffee handy since you're looking at 3 hours of investment.

8:00pm Inside the Actors Studio BRAVO - John Cusack is in the chair.

9:00pm Tin Man SCIFI - Part Two. The show's pretty good - some of the animation is feh, and the John Williams-type score should be junked - but the cool sci fi treatment of the Wizard of Oz trumps these problems. TV Junkie Pick O' The Night.

10:00pm Saving Grace TNT - Holly Hunter is back. Although I loved watching her in the first round of this program, I couldn't really stand much else (other than Laura San Giacomo). Still, it's better than anything on the Big Three networks at 10:00pm.

Damn, I was out and missed Tin Man. Looked pretty good.

I really really wanted to like Tin Man. I was looking forward to it. But the acting is stilted and off putting. Yet I still am 2 for 2 on the episodes and will probably do the hat trick.

Tin Man was terrible. I'll agree that the basic idea is cool, but the execution was just no good. Bad dialogue...very overwritten. So much exposition and repeating of characters' names and places...it was strange, actually. And the weirdest was that so much of it seemed ADRed. And the title Tin Man doesn't even make any sense, because it's not even more about that character than anyone else. "DG" is still the central role. Pretty poor.
