Pencil This In

There's no such thing as a quiet Monday in this town. Here's a quick look at what's happening:

The Eclipse from 1907

FILM: If you're a historic film buff, then head over the Academy Linwood-Dunn Theatre for A Century Ago: The Films of 1907. The event celebrates the year 1907 and its developmental contributions to motion pictures with a program of selected films. The evening will present a partial survey of turn-of-the-20th-century international filmmaking with trick films, actualities, primitive dramas and gag films. Plenty of film clips and live musical accompaniment.

7:30 pm // Academy Linwood-Dunn Theatre // 1313 North Vine Street (at Fountain), Hollywood // $5 for non-members.

READING: In addition to the great events ('cept maybe the Bush thingy) mentioned in "Get Your Lit On" earlier today, Red Hen Publishing presents a reading series at the Geffen on Monday nights. On tap tonight is "New York Meets Los Angeles" with Janet Fitch, Jennifer Egan and Sarah Goodyear.

7:30 pm // Geffen Playhouse // 10886 Le Conte Ave., Los Angeles // $20.

CLASSICAL MUSIC: From this week's classical music pick: Most of the general public knows of Igor Stravinsky, but Radulescu or Xenakis, not so much. Percussionist Steven Schick, will be playing "the insanely complex" Rebonds by Xenakis and young pianist Eric Huebner will be joining.

8 pm // Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn School of the Performing Arts // 200 S. Grand Ave., Downtown // $25 and $10 for students.

PUBLIC FORUM: Interested in immigration issues? Then "Where do we go from here?" is just for you. Learn more about the politics surrounding the the immigrant community, including state and local attempts to control immigration or enforce immigration laws. Hector Villagra explains what the ACLU is doing to help the cause.

7 pm // VIVA Art Gallery, 13261 Moorpark Ave, Sherman Oaks // Free.
