No, I'm sorry to see him go. UCLA had both quarterbacks injured this year and that's not the coaches fault. I don't think the person they replace Dorrell with will fare any better, but at least the replacement will satisfy the boosters calling for his head on a stick.

Dorrell is a fellow alum, so I wish him well and hope he gets another opportunity to coach somewhere in Division I.

dorrell is a fellow bruin so i wish him no ill will, but i do think it was his time to go. he was given sufficient time to flourish and he just didn't. in time he may become a good coach, but he'll have to find that out at a lower tier school. i'd like to see chris peterson as the new head coach. he's proven that he can do a lot with a program in a short amount of time.

Yeah, I was glad that he was fired, but the way it went down was not how I would've done it. I guess he's got his $2 million dollar buy-out to keep him warm at night. As for a coach I'd like to see, I think Chris Petersen from Boise State (Guerrrero's first pick) would be a gutsy, strong coach that UCLA needs

Hell yes, I am so happy that Dan Guerrero finally had the balls to fire Karl Dorrell's ass! Secretly, I am glad the Bruins lost to USC because it meant that Karl was out. Too bad we have to pay Dorrell 2 mil to make him leave.

I'd say let's steal Pete Carroll from USC!!

There's always UCLA basketball.

I'm happy to send Dorrell on his way - he's had 5 years to make this "West Coast Offense" work and it's not happening. Some say that it's too complicated for the college kids and maybe that's true. But he's a coach and should either make it work or try something else, neither of which he's doing.

And you can't say that over the course of 5 years it's been injured players and not Dorrell that have been holding the team back. Every team suffers from injuries and it's the coach's responsibility to figure out how to maximize the talent available.

I'm sad to see him go. I would have liked to have seen what he would have done with a healthy squad. But since Dorrell is gone, I would like to see Bill Cowher come to Los Angeles. He probably hates North Carolina and he should do what he does best, coaching.

Anyone would be better than Dorrell at this point. Not only has he run a totally conventional scheme that is completely easy to prepare for, but he's also clearly failed to recruit the kind of talent – particularly at quarterback – that the Bruins need to seriously compete.

All three of the coaches Toledo has mentioned sound good to me; interestingly, they all run (or have run) pretty unusual offenses. Each would cost a big chunk of change, but it's been really embarrassing for UCLA to win 100 NCAA championships and yet continue to trot out this pathetic football squad. So I think Guerrero will spend whatever it takes.
