Gary Calamar’s Top Ten Albums of 2007

KCRW DJ, Gary Calamar

Tonight is the most excellent show, Open Road on KCRW, which begins at 9:00 p.m., ending at midnight. DJ Gary Calamar mixes roots of Rock, Country, Jazz, Blues, and Soul with new releases that you can most see on his peer's lists. Calamar got his start at KCRW as a volunteer, moving his way to DJ after literally begging on his knees to Chris Douridas for a show. Douridas made a great choice.

1) Ben Lee - Ripe (New West)

2) Feist - The Reminder (Interscope)

3) The Shins - Wincing the Night Away (Sub Pop)

4) Fujiya & Miyagi - Transparent Things (Deaf Dumb and Blind)

5) Arcade Fire - Neon Bible (Merge)

6) Caribou - Andorra (Merge)

7) John Doe - A Year in the Wilderness (Yep Rock)

8) Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81 (RCA)

9) Coburn - Coburn (Groove Attack)

10) Bruce Springsteen - Magic (Columbia)

what kind of junk deal did you cut with kcrw? boring djs like this guy are precisely why kcrw is officially lame. i feel pretty dirty for liking caribou after this incredibly bland list.

That was well worth the wait. (The list, not the churlish comment above).

Good to see BRMC finally get some love.
