The Wright Stuff at the New Beverly Cinema

Edgar Wright and Zombie friend

For me, Edgar Wright is one of those directors whose films I see the moment they hit theaters. Both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz share a comic spirit that never diminishes even after many viewings. This past August, Wright hosted several sold-out screenings of his films at the New Beverly Cinema and starting December 2nd the New Beverly will turn over its programming reins to him for what is sure to be a rollicking time.

The 7:30 pm screenings will be introduced by Wright and will include a Q & A afterwards with notables from one of the films. The selection of films is all over the map, from horror to comedy to musicals to science-fiction. The series will run from the 2nd to the 17th and tickets are only $7 at the door (cash only). I recommend buying an 8-pack of tickets for $36 since the New Beverly Cinema is always reviving cool flicks.

Oh, please. Last American Boyscott? Where Shane Black gets paid 2 million to write about a wide receiver shooting the safety on his way into the end zone before eating a bullet himself?

Yeah, that's a classic.

Although forgiven for getting Mr Landis in a couple of nights later wouldnt you say?

I agree about . I'm no fan of it. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is certainly proof of Black's talent, though.

Not sure how The Last Boy Scout got left out of my last post. Anyway...yeah, it sort of sucks.

Au contraire, Danwuh. John Landis kicks ass, especially with the American Werewolf in London. The best Landis flick, however, is his ode to LA, Into the Night.

He's even got Michelle Pfeiffer walking naked in it.

Before we go and bomb Iran, I think it's important that everyone see this movie.

Boyscout is lame, but Kiss Kiss is hilarious. Native American Joe Pesci!

And I just saw this, BUGSY MALONE!!! Remember Scot Baio shooting cream-puffs out of a machine gun?? This movie is awesome.
