What I'm Thankful for

lamp

I'm thankful for my family, even when they're "challenging."

I'm thankful for my husband, who for some reason has signed on to sleep beside me, watch lots of tv, do the dishes and read every draft (even though he won't see movies more than once.)

I'm thankful to be lucky enough to pursue my passion, so few people have that luxury!

I'm thankful for Los Angeles, where the sky is big and the horizon is long. Where you can see the sun in wintertime and the wild flowers start to grow in December. For a city with backyards and culture, hiking and a million and one different kinds of cheap food and nice restaurants and stories.

I'm thankful for New York, where everything is glittery and vertical, where subways throw sparks and there are secret trees hidden in buildings, and great pizza and coats and art everywhere and the Brooklyn Bridge and the fresh loaves of bread in little markets and tiny places -- bakeries and book stores and tiny eateries and tiny shops, that you glance into and go in.

I'm thankful for stories and secrets that open our eyes and get us out of the groove we shuffle along every day, that make us wonder at the world and know ourselves better, that make us aware of the possibilities.
