WGA Strike - Day 16 - Alicia Keys Performs

WGA Strike - Day 16 - Alicia Keys

The ever talented and lovely Alicia Keys performed just before the massive 4000+ strong march down Hollywood Blvd. Keys, with the #1 album in the country As I Am, said "As a SAG member and a writer, she was there to support the cause." After the mini-concert of two songs, "No One" and "Go Ahead", the red army took to the street. March and chanting from Vine to right in front of the Chinese Theatre.

Also on hand at the front of the march was Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh.

Great photos!

Dear writers,

Let me just say that I'm totally on your side, and I think you should all get what you rightly deserve.

But closing down Hollywood Bl. was a seriously lame thing to do. What idiot thinks that's a good idea? I'm sure that more than a few of the folks inconveniently parked with me in the middle of Wilcox, and all the surrounding streets had plenty of pressing business they needed to get to without having to navigate around already hard to navigate Hollywood.

I mean, I was down on Hollywood Bl. when our Burmese population was demonstrating against the violent crackdown on their Buddhist monks, and not one of those people was blocking traffic. Instead cars drove by and honked and waved in support.

So, lets recap:
Monks being beaten up and killed -
no shutdown of Hollywood BL.

Writers wanting a cut of dvd and internet sales -
shut that bitch down, and inconvenience thousands of people, a good chunk of whom are or will be affected by this strike.

Please. It's called a permit. Hollywood Blvd. closes down a lot. Tons. For parades, for the Oscars, for movie events, subway construction.... It will be shut down again for the Christmas parade shortly. Everyone has had to deal with the backed up traffic when it does, so why single this event out? Axe to grind much?
Stop blaming the writers for everything, it’s tiresome, but hey, nice try with the monks angle and all. I bet the March on Washington in 1963 messed traffic up in DC some too. People are allowed to protest.

The writers guild has no contract and are legally on strike. You don't specifically commend them when they are working and thousands have jobs to go to when there are scripts, so why condemn them particularly when there are no scripts? If the studios were intending to give them a fair contract, then why did they lay off all those people? The writers fired no one.
