perhaps painting a real tree to be fire-proof and to stay green consistently through-out the season is more cost effective than constructing a fake tree, and storing it somewhere year after year.

my question is, why not paint it some other color? i would have liked to see it painted up like a candy cane.

They do that on all public Christmas trees. Go check out the tree at the Grove up close and you will see that it too will be painted green. Guess you cant realistically expect a tree not to brown being left outside for over a month.

Maybe it was a tribute to the recently deceased Michelangelo Antonioni.
