Puffy AmiYumi @ The Key Club, 11/16

Puffy AmiYumi at The Key Club
Its no wonder that Puffy AmiYumi are the huge international superstars that they are because even though they sing in a language you don't understand, they are irresistibly charming and their songs will be stuck in your head for days.

I guess it was an all ages show. I was standing next to the most angsty 12-year-old girl i have ever seen, but her along with everyone else had their fist pumping perpetually through out the show.

Puffy AmiYumi is the epitome of fist pumping music.

The best part of the show was when Yumi (the curly haired one) and Ami (the straight haired one) whipped out their little note pads to read some English phrases to the crowd. It was cute how they tried to ask us, "How going is it?" and then stated that the two of them "Love LA". I'm sure their English is ten times better than my Japanese, that's for sure.

I never thought i would openly admit to loving a pop mall-band from Japan, who have a cartoon for kids, and are the music version of Hello Kitty. But i do love them, go preview some of their jams on Itunes or their myspace to see for yourself.

After the jump is a photo essay of the event. Enjoy.

Great write-up and pics, Anti! I am also into Japanese bubblegum pop punk. Shonen Knife turned me out.

Anti i totally forgot you were there! i showed up after the B52s show next door. those girls were super cute and funny, but those two guitarists shredded way harder than i expected them to.

i also loved how they introduced the band twice in a row giving everyone nicknames - "this is Angus aka no not Young because he's not young."

That was a great show... the little books they had were great ;).

Great show... I also loved the note cards. :)

By the way, you should fix the date on this post... it's listed as Nov. 19th so it's screwing up RSS feeds.
