Eco-Challenge: Green Doggie Bags

Tupperware CabinetLast year I challenged myself to stop using plastic bags at grocery stores by bringing my own reusable ones. After months of forgetting to bring my own bags and kicking my own arse mentally, it is now a natural habit when heading out the door.

Now it's time to challenge myself again with reusables. It may make me look like an old crazy bag lady, but it must be done. I must start to make a habit of bringing some form of enviro-friendly "tupperware" when I go out to dinner, therefore avoiding throw away cartons, even if they are sustainable, from the restaurant.

Time to go make like a bag lady!

Most take away packaging is recyclable, you just have to wash or rinse it, flatten it out if it's a box, and pop it in the blue bin. I had an older family member that used to carry some well worn tinfoil that was used and resused for leftovers from eating out. It did the trick, but you will still seem like a loon.

As for plastic shopping bag replacements - have you tried envirosax? They roll up really tiny, and they have non girly looking prints as well.

I love your tupperware idea! I'll join you in this experiment, and then you won't be a freak all by yourself!

Thanks for the link to envirosax! I use regular TJ's reusable bags for shopping but when I'm at a bookstore or drugstore, I often forget to bring a bag. One of these will be perfect! I also sent the link to my family as a christmas gift idea....
