This Weekend in Theatre: Victorian Parodies and Christopher Walken Wannabes

There's a week left until the holiday rush officially begins. So why not relax this weekend, get some cultcha and see some local theatre. Here are our five picks for the week:
Grand Delusion
Grand Delusion
This black comedy listens in on a secret meeting of world leaders just before WW I.

The Lost Studio. 130 S. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles. (323) 960-4441. Tickets are $20. Opens Saturday at 8 pm. Runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 and Sundays at 4 pm until Dec. 15.

Love Loves a Pornographer
Victorian-era melodramas were the precursors to today’s soap operas and telenovelas. Circle X Theatre Company presents a parody of the genre.
Inside the Ford, John Anson Ford Theatre Complex. 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East, Hollywood. (323) 461-3673. Tickets are $20-$25 (pay what you can Sunday matinees.) Opens Saturday at 8 pm. Chris is Back
All About Walken: The Impersonators of Christopher Walken
Back by popular demand, this show celebrates all things Walken through monologues, music and improv. Cast members of every gender and ethnicity get to play the dude who made Fatboy Slim famous.
Paul G Gleason Theatre. 6520 Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles. (310) 663-4050. Tickets are $15. Runs Monday nights at 8 pm until Dec. 17

If You Ever Leave Me…I’m Going with You
Renée Taylor and Joe Bologna (a real-life married couple) turn their dating, married and movie lives into a comic play.

El Portal Theatre. 5269 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood. (818) 508-4200. Tickets are $35-$50. Tonight through Saturday at 8 pm. Sunday at 3 pm. This weekend only.

Yerma
Talk about intense: "Yerma is the story of a childless woman living in rural Spain who desperately desires motherhood. Her husband is a frugal, economically driven man who has no desire to have children. For him, children are a costly transaction. Yerma's obsession with motherhood drives her to commit a horrific crime. Her desperation is produced by the social norms of her culture, and the play "Yerma" functions as a critique of those norms."
The New LATC/Theatre 2. 514 S. Spring St., Los Angeles. (323) 461-3673. Tickets are $28. Runs tonight through Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. This weekend only.
