They Serve Beer at the Wienerschnitzel in Burbank?!?!

If there's one thing that we love at LAist it's food. And if there's one thing that tastes perfect with food, it's beer. So when we went down to NBC today to support the striking writers and we wanted to hit the Wienerschnitzel to grab a bite via the drive-thru.
To our surprise there was no drive-thru at the Alameda / Ontario Wienerschnitzel in Burbank, so we huffed and puffed, parked, and went inside. And when we did we saw a beautiful sight... there was beer at the fast food joint.
Delicious beer.

From the road this hot dog place looks like any old hot dog place.

In fact most people probably don't pay it any mind since NBC and the "Tonight Show" are right across the street .

Even if you walk through the main door that most people use to park and come into the place there's no signage to tell you that there's booze merely feet from your deserving palate.

And then you see it. Right next to the ice tea, right over the dude's shoulder, beers from St. Louis waiting for you to pay $3.25 for them.
Hi-e.

Apparently the chain has had a liquor license at this location for at least a few years. But maybe no one knows about this little fact because the beer signs are underneath awnings that are sorta hard to see from the road.

Be careful highschoolers, according to the neon overlooking the patio, they ID. D'oh! Or should we say D'er.

If you know of other chains that have one or two locations that serve booze - when they usually don't sell beer chain-wide, help a blogga out and tell us in the comments!

Sweet!
I've always had this theory that the corn dog should be a staple of any fine gourmet restaurant's menu.

its the only schnitzel in the world that serves beer too. I wonder why corporate is cool with that, and why more fast food joints dont do the same. I remember eating a a Mcdonalds in Europe, they served beer there and it made me very jealous we didnt have that here.

there are three carl's jrs (the "9th & Olympic" location is obviously wrong as those streets run parallel, the correct location is main & olympic). also, a subway. jared suggests the light beer.

I found out about this in April. When I walked in and ordered two chili dogs and a pitcher with a friend I told the cashier that it's great to have beer at a Wienerschnitzel. He said with a great big smile on his face, "I know!" Get some.

In Malaga Spain there was an Orange Julius that served classic orange julius orange-ade and American-styled burgers.
They also had a full bar and served Tapas.

About 12 years ago when I had to drop off scripts to the NBC lot that same location used to be a Boston Market type restaurant. It too served beer. I guess the license transfers with the sale if the establishment.

They also start serving beer and chili dogs at 7am. The only good Budweiser beer is the Amber Bock. I stand by it.
It used to be a Kenny Rogers Roasters and the license stayed with the place.
